Inspiration: The darkness of the sad poverty in parts of Cairo in the “City of the Dead” area which is a cemetery that is so populated with squatters that they had to put schools in it.

Inspiration: The colour of the pyramids and my sister’s red top. Pinch me. I cannot believe I am standing there.

We took a tour of the Manial Palace. It is a museum now, but was once the home of a wealthy Muslim man.
Inspiration: The upper window of the women’s quarters which is the Harem.

Inspiration: All of the wood furniture. Wood was very scarce in the desert and you have to be very rich to have so much of it.
